Calendar Of FREE #16DaysOfActivism Events, Battling Gender Based Viole

16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence is an annual UN Women international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

The theme this year is domestic violence, a timely one due to the global pandemic driven spike in gender based violence against women.

Karen Women Organisation is a community-based organisation working in development and relief in refugee camps on the Thai border and with IDPs and women inside Burma.

The Karen Women's Organization is extending an open invitation to an event at Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot, Thailand on November 25th to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Ngozi Fulani, founder of Sistah Space, an organisation supporting African heritage women and girls affected by domestic and sexual abuse.

Huda Jawad, founder of Safety Across Faith and Ethnic Communities, supporting faith and BME communities to improve the response to domestic abuse and gender-based violence.

Sexual & Gender Based Violence: Migrant Women's Perspective

Migrant women are more vulnerable to domestic violence for multiple reasons, they face barriers to safety and justice when it comes to gender-based violence, trafficking, by its nature, cuts women off from their homes and communities, taking them to a place where they can be exploited for someone else’s gain. FGM and early and forced marriage are cultural practices and often go hand in hand.

Surviving Economic Abuse is running a series of free webinars over the next few months, increasing understanding and awareness of economic abuse across six key issues. These include privately owned housing, banking, coerced debt, children, COVID-19 and the police.

Each session will provide an overview of the key theme and how it sits within the context of economic abuse. We would love for you to attend, whether you are working in the domestic abuse sector, within an industry with links to economic safety — such as banks, councils, or housing associations, or if you are simply curious to learn more.

Hollaback! operates as a perpetual affront to harassment — in all its forms. They started in 2005 working to end gender-based harassment in public space, also known as street harassment and have expanded since.

Bystander intervention gives us tools to intervene without compromising our own safety. When we intervene, we don’t just reduce trauma for the person being street harassed. We also start to chip away at the culture that allows harassment to be so prevalent.

Alone we can’t shift the culture — but together — our actions matter.

With the support of L’Oreal Paris, the NYC Commission on Gender Equity and the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, there's a historic opportunity to train 20,000 people before 2021.

Throughout the 16 days campaign they will host one training per day, with the goal of training 20,000 people throughout the campaign.

Each training is one hour, interactive, and includes a live trainer.
